News: Boeing rolls out first 787 Dreamliner assembled at South Carolina plant

·        Commercial aircraft manufacturer, Boeing, debut its much awaited aircraft- 787 Dreamliner
·        Long range mid-size wide-body, twin-engine jet 787 Dreamliner can fly up to 15,000 to 15,700 km at a speed of about 900 km per hour
·        It has passenger carrying capacity ranging between 230 to 296 according to variation in design
·        Due to its light weight design as a result of use of carbon composites instead of aluminum, 787 is expected to consume 20% lesser fuel compared with its peers
·        Currently, order book size of 787 Dreamliner is about 800 planes from more than 60 airlines worldwide with each plane costing about $200 - $220 million
·        While production rate at South Carolina plant is 3.5 planes per month which Boeing plans to increase up to 10 planes per month by the end of 2013

·        Typical project size would be about 10 acres ranging 1,000 to 2,000 budget housing units
·        Price of each apartment is expected to be between Rs. 7 lakh to Rs. 15 lakh
·        Mahindra would join exiting bigger corporate players in the space such as Tata Housing, Usha Martin Group and Jerry Rao’s Value and Budget Housing Corporation
·        Presence of larger players would not only improve the credibility  of the sector but can create positive  momentum for the industry
·        According to the National Housing Bank, urban India is facing shortage of about 25 million housing units mainly related to low-income group
·        Considering that each low-cost unit cost at $10,000 (approx. Rs. 5 lakh), the market opportunity for affordable housing in India is $250 billion

·    Indian wireless telecom market ends February 2012 with subscriber base of 911.17 million with addition of 7.44 million, monthly growth rate of 0.82%
·    Overall mobile teledensity stands at 75.42% (Urban – 162.61%, Rural – 37.62%)
·    Urban to rural subscriber ratio is 65.20% to 34.80%
·    According to VLR data, India had 670.65 million active mobile subscribers. Hence, actual wireless teledensity in India is 55.51% by February 2012
·    In February 2012, about 4.32 million subscribers submitted Mobile Number Portability (MNP) requests which is about 0.47% of total mobile subscriber base in India
Top 5 mobile telecom players account for 82.2% of overall subscriber base ….
·    Bharti Airtel has maintained its leadership position with 24.5% market share in India
·    Idea has largest proportion of active mobile users at 92.90%
·    Top 5 players in Indian wireless telecom industry accounts for 82.2% market share in terms of active subscriber base
·    Idea (34.70%) added highest amount of subscribers in February 2012 followed by Uninor (31.48%), Bharti (24.50%), Reliance (13.08%) and Vodafone (11.26%)
·    As pace of subscriber addition is getting slower, most of the mobile telecom operator are focusing on improving the proportion of active subscriber base as well as targeting competitors subscriber base using MNP

·    Notably, Madhya Pradesh has become sixth largest mobile telecom market in India with active subscriber base of 41.30 million replacing Karnataka with 41.19 million active users
