Punjab is the slowest growing market in India in terms of active mobile subscribers…
· Mobile subscriber base of Punjab increased by 11.11% during FY2012 to reach 31.95 million
· Active wireless subscriber base in Punjab is 73.80% resulting in 23.58 million active mobile users
· Active subscriber base in Punjab increased by 12.62% during FY2012 compared with national average of 19.00%, slowest in the country
· By March 2012, Punjab is 14th largest wireless telecom market in India accounting for 3.45% of total active subscriber base
· By March 2012, Punjab registered 1,603,051 Mobile Number Portability (MNP) requests, resulting into churn rate of 5.02%
Bharti Airtel leaves competition far behind with 27.0% share...
· Bharti Airtel leads Punjab wireless telecom market with 21.8% of total subscriber base followed by Idea (17.0%), Reliance (15.5%), BSNL (14.7%) and Vodafone (14.2%)
· Bharti has 91.5% of active subscribers while figure for Idea is 90. 8% and Vodafone is 92.9%. Active subscriber proportion for these three players is significantly higher compared with competition
· Consequently, Bharti Airtel tops with 27.0% share followed by Idea (21.0%), Vodafone (17.9%)
· Top 5 players accounts for 87.6% of Punjab’s active mobile subscriber base
