· Mobile subscriber base of Maharashtra increased by 14.18% during FY2012 to reach 70.47 million
· Active wireless subscriber base in Maharashtra is 79.28% resulting in 55.87 million active mobile users
· Active subscriber base in Maharashtra increased by 17.89% during FY2012 compared with national average of 19.00%
· By March 2012, Maharashtra is 2nd largest wireless telecom market in India accounting for 8.18% of total active subscriber base, lost the number one position to U.P. (East)
· By March 2012, Maharashtra registered 3,311,366 Mobile Number Portability (MNP) requests, resulting into churn rate of 4.70%
Idea maintains lead over competition with 26.4% market share ….
· In Maharashtra wireless telecom market, Idea leads with 21.5% share in terms of total subscriber base followed by Vodafone (18.4%), Reliance (15.5%), Bharti (14.0%) and Tata (12.3%)
· Idea extends market share in terms of active subscriber base as 97.2% of its mobile subscribers are active compared with 91.6% for Vodafone, 85.3% for Airtel and 65.2% for Reliance
· In terms of active subscriber base, Idea has 26.4% market share followed by Vodafone (21.2%), Airtel (15.0%), Reliance (12.8%) and Tata (9.9%)
· BSNL with just 7.5% share of active users has become almost irrelevant in one of most urbanized mobile telecom market in the country
· Top 5 players accounts for 85.4% of Maharashtra’s active mobile subscriber base
