India is the largest democratic country in the world with more than 834 million voters. Since 1947 when India became independent nation, it adopted Parliamentary democracy. India is federal republic with 29 states and 7 union territories. Every 5 years voters exercise their voting rights to elect Member of Parliament (MPs) to represent their constituencies. It is interesting to know Top 10 States with Highest Member of Parliament (MPs) in India.  
    
 
 
Lok Sabha (Lower House) elects 543 MPs while 2 MPs are nominated from the Anglo-Indian Community by the President of India. While Rajya Sabha (Upper House) constitutes of 245 MPs elected by state and territorial legislatures. Tenure of Lok Sabha MP is 5 years while Rajya Sabha MP get 6 years term.
 
 
To arrive at Top 10 States with Highest Member of Parliament (MPs) in India, we calculated total number of MPs in each state by combining Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha numbers. Not surprising that most populous state in India, Uttar Pradesh tops the list with 111 MPs followed by Maharashtra (67), West Bengal (58), Tamil Nadu (57) and so on.
