According to World Happiness
Report 2017, globally 155 countries were ranked on Happiness Index. It is calculated
based on parameter such as GDP per Capita, social support, healthy life
expectancy, freedom to make life choices, generosity and perception of corruption.
Interesting to see the list of Top 10
Happiest Countries in the World
Norway is the happiest country in
the world with score of 7.537. Norway jumped to top position from 4th
place last year. Denmark which was at the top is now at 2nd position
with score 7.522. Another European nation Iceland maintains 3rd
position with 7.504. Switzerland slipped to 4th from 2nd
with score of 7.494 while Finland remains at 5th like previous year
with score of 7.469. Netherlands is at 6th with 7.377 exchanging position
with Canada who is now 7th with 7.316. New Zealand (7.314),
Australia (7.284) and Sweden (7.284) maintains 8th, 9th
and 10th position respectively.
Importantly, none of the Asian or
African nation feature in list of Top 10 Happiest Countries in the World. China
is at 79th place with 5.273 while India ranked 122th out of 155 countries
with score of 4.315. Even Japan is poor 51st ranked with 5.920 and
South Korea 56th scoring 5.838. Clearly, population is adversely
affecting happiness of the nation.
