base at the end of December 2016 was 1,127.37 million. Urban mobile user was
662.6 million while rural wireless subscribers were 464.78 million. India’s
wireless telecom market is witnessing robust growth driven by rising income
levels, introduction of newer technologies such as 3G/4G and increasing

at 87.65% of total user base is 988.14 million. Out of 22 mobile telecom circles
U.P. (East) tops with 87.12 million. Maharashtra at second position with 83.47
million active mobile users followed by Tamil Nadu at 73.03 million, Andhra Pradesh
(72.89 million) and Bihar (72.02 million). Interestingly Top 5 telecom circles
accounts for 39.3% of India’s total active mobile subscriber base.
